What is Preventative Botox?

The fountain of youth may not exist, but science has gotten pretty darn close. There are plenty of products and treatments available that can help reverse or even stop the signs of aging. One of the most popular treatments is Botox.

Botox uses botulinum toxin injected into the skin to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The toxin—that’s not toxic or harmful to the body—paralyzes the muscles, so they are more relaxed, creating less wrinkling and creasing in the skin.

There are two main types of Botox that we can help you with at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa in Gilbert, AZ: preventative Botox and corrective Botox. Both do well in an effort to increase anti-aging and both contain their own properties depending on the solution you want.

What Is Preventative Botox?

One of the major preventative Botox benefits is that it prevents wrinkles before they set deep into the skin. The key is to get the treatment early before the face has many visible wrinkles or fine lines.

Preventative Botox uses the botulinum toxin to relax the muscles in the face. These paralyzed muscles prevent the skin from creasing and forming fine lines or wrinkles.

Before having the procedure, you’ll have a consultation with one of our registered nurses at Colair, where you’ll discuss possible side effects and aftercare instructions. During the Botox process, the specialist will identify the facial muscles to apply the Botox. The preventative Botox process takes only ten to thirty minutes.

How often do you need to do it? Preventative Botox isn’t something you do only once. It often takes a few sessions to yield initial results, and you’ll need to maintain the effects after the first visit.

When can you see results? It can take up to two weeks to see any initial changes. On average, it takes ten to twelve weeks for patients to see their desired results. And to maintain the results, you should get treatments about three to four times a year.

How much does it cost? On average, preventative Botox costs between $250 and $500 per session. The price depends on how many areas need to be treated as well as the dose required per injection.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Firstly, the FDA has approved Botox for patients older than eighteen. For those looking to use Botox to prevent aging, many people get their first treatment in their mid-twenties.

Technically, you can receive Botox treatments in your early twenties, but at that time, it’s unlikely that wrinkles have formed or set into the skin. Preventative Botox decreases the chance of having wrinkles in the future.

Who should get preventative botox? Anyone who wants who’s looking to maintain their youth and fight wrinkles before they start.

Why You Should Consider Preventative Botox

Taking the preventative approach is easy the solution to stop early lines from becoming wrinkles. Starting Botox early, before wrinkles have the chance to set in, reduces the chance of having wrinkles in the future. You’re also less likely to have deep-set wrinkles.

You should consider getting preventative Botox fillers in your twenties because not only can it prevent the development of deep static facial lines, but it may also prevent wrinkles altogether. You also may save on high Botox costs down the line because there won’t be as many wrinkles to fight.

What Is Corrective Botox?

Corrective Botox has a similar goal as preventative Botox: to fight against the signs of aging, wrinkles, and deep lines. But corrective Botox is used when those signs have aging have already set into the skin.

The main goal of corrective Botox is to soften or make the lines disappear. The procedure makes the skin taut, which helps smooth it out. This is especially helpful when those deeper creases begin to set in.

Botox and fillers can also help with volume loss and thin skin as you age. The older we get, the thinner our skin becomes, not only making wrinkles more prominent but also causing us to lose the youthful plumpness our skin once had. Sagging skin may also become a concern.

Botox and fillers can combat these issues. Botox fights the fine lines and wrinkles, while corrective fillers can help add plumpness back to areas like our cheeks, marionette lines or lips.

The process between both versions of Botox is similar, where you’ll be in a professional medical room while one of our registered nurses injects the treatment. The whole process only takes ten to thirty minutes.

As for maintenance, you should receive a series of treatments about every twelve to sixteen weeks to maintain your results. The cost typically ranges between $250 and $600 at Colair depending on the location you need and the amount of Botox needed to correct the wrinkles.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Those looking for corrective Botox treatments are better for people who already have deep-set wrinkles or fine lines on their skin. Most people begin seeking corrective Botox treatments in their mid to late thirties and is an increasingly popular treatment for those in their forties, fifties, and sixties. While there isn’t an upper age limit, health risks associated with advanced ages may make Botox not the best option.

When Corrective Is a More Appropriate Option

Corrective Botox is the more appropriate option if your skin is already showing signs of aging. Consider this if you have:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Loss of volume on your face and neck

This version can also be more appropriate if you’ve had unhealthy habits surrounding your skin, such as smoking, frequent use of tanning beds, and overexposure to the sun without using protective measures. All of these can lead to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines that Botox can then treat.

Reverse the Signs of Aging With Botox

Who says growing old gracefully can’t come with a little Botox? If you’re looking to reverse or prevent the signs of aging, you can do that with Botox. Both corrective and preventative Botox are great ways to help your skin look younger.

Pamper yourself and allow your inner beauty to shine through. At Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa, you can reverse and prevent signs of aging through Botox injections customized to your needs. Contact us to schedule a free consultation at our med spa in Gilbert to start your beauty journey.

So if you’re a 20-something and thinking that Botox isn’t something you need to consider for decades, think again. It’s basic beauty-instincts to follow certain anti-aging and preventive measures like wearing sunscreen, applying night cream and drinking water, but imagine altogether halting the development of wrinkles before they even start?

So, what is Botox? Contrary to what many believe—Botox isn’t shipped from heaven— rather, it is Botulinum toxin type A, a wonder drug made to smooth out lines by preventing muscles from contracting. Believe it or not Botox has been around for 100 years. Initially approved for treating eyelid spasms, Botox then went on to be used for bladder spasms and excessive sweating, then in 2002, it was approved by the FDA for treatment of wrinkles on the upper face. Located in Agritopia, Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is your one-stop skincare destination and our experts are ready to answer your questions about Botox and other med spa services.  If you’re interested in learning more about the benefits of Botox or have questions, please do not hesitate to visit or call us at (480) 923-6138.

How Often Should You Get Botox Injections?

You’ve probably wondered how often you should get Botox once you complete your first treatment. The quick answer that we recommend is every 12 weeks. This anti-aging treatment is a miracle for many looking to counteract the effects of getting older. Botox is everyone’s favorite weapon against fine lines and wrinkles for its quick results that require little to no downtime. Read on about Botox to learn who should get it, and how often to get filler injections.

Before and after of Botox treatment

How Does Botox Work?

Before diving into the frequency and how often you should get Botox, let’s take a look at how it works. Botox is an anti-aging treatment that blocks the nerves in and around your forehead that prevents you from moving those muscles. This allows for a more refreshed and softer looking face. Botox is a completely safe and FDA-approved cosmetic procedure that focuses especially on forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes

Who Should Get Botox?

The beauty of Botox is that it’s never too late or early (for adults) to start tackling wrinkles. Think it’s too soon for you? Think again. Preventative Botox is a thing and it’s something you should consider. Starting Botox before you actually have wrinkles and lines allows you to cease motions in the muscles that cause the lines themselves to form. Thus solving the problem before it becomes one.

BOTOX injection

How Often Should I Get Botox?

All good things must come to an end, or in this case, reapplied. Botox isn’t permanent and follow-ups are recommended to keep that youthful appearance. For best results, we’d like to see you at least every 90 days. The biggest reason to come in every three months is so the creases and lines don’t deepen with extended muscle movement. Again, the notion is that we can stop the muscle motion that actually causes the wrinkle.

If you’re worried about looking “overdone” or plastic-like, that’s the beauty of seeing a professional at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. One of our registered nurses will be able to examine your face, muscle structure and strength to ensure you get the most natural looking results as possible.

How to Avoid New Wrinkles?

As we mentioned, getting Botox on a regular basis is going to improve the look of wrinkles, but also stop new ones from forming and prevent existing ones from getting worse. There’s a few things to keep in mind for the sake of your skin and not creating new wrinkles. Wear an SPF (at least 30) every day to prevent UV damage, avoid smoking and eat healthy.

“First of all, my job exposes me to a lot of skincare products. I get to test the best of the best. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say my favorite was iS Clinical. If you’re looking for a line of products that actually works, this is it. It’s amazing for all ages, genders and for all types of skin concerns. It’s a better product because of the research and ingredients that go into it.”

Cleanser: “I’m absolutely crazy about the Warming Honey Cleanser. I find most {cleansers} strip my skin, but this luxurious gel not only smells incredible but cleanses deeply, and leaves your skin moisturized.”

Serum: “After I’ve washed my skin, it’s time to slather on a serum. It’s a vital step in my regimen, because it helps seal the moisture in the skin before you apply any kind of cream/ moisturizer. I reach for the Youth Serum, a potion that helps with the signs of aging. My skin suddenly has more bounce and smooths out my skin before makeup.”

Moisturizer: “Right, so living in Arizona it’s vital we load up on hydration for our skin. It doesn’t matter how much Botox we get, if your skin is dry, it’s going to age you terribly. I really enjoy the Reparative Moisture Emulsion for an all-over moisturizer; it’s gonna help protect your skin from environmental aggressors and really work on fine line and wrinkles.”

SPF: “Between your serum and moisturizer, you should wait a minute or so. Brush your teeth, etc and let that good stuff soak in. After I’ve applied my moisturizer in and waited a min, I move onto the most vital part of my routine. SPF isn’t an option. Mom, Dad, Kids, and dog (joking) should wearing SPF Daily. And at least a SPF 30. I opt for the iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ because it goes on sheer, light and doesn’t mess with my makeup.”

Skin’s Summer Survival Guide

There’s just something about summer that makes even the most prude skin-fanatics lose all their inhibitions and regular skincare routines. Maybe it’s the ocean air, kid’s out of school or perhaps just the bottle of Rosè. But, it’s vital that you keep your cool and remain sunscreed-ed and more during summer break. Below are few tips to fighting the sun this season from your friends at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa.

Sunscreen: Yes, we’re gonna state the obvious. But sunscreen is the best, and possibly the simplest way to prevent sun damage (I.e sunspots, wrinkles, cancer, etc). Mix it with your favorite cream and reapply every few hours.

Don’t Just Spray It: Yes, those spray sunscreens work, but according to dermatologist, folks aren’t rubbing it in properly. Leaving you with streaky protection. Spray the section of your body until it glistens, and then give it a proper rub-in.

Get Shady: Sure, sunscreen is gonna do it’s thing, but why stop there? Get glamorous with a giant hat, long sleeve shirt and oversized shades to protect the skin around your eyes. Think vampire in the Hamptons, people.

Burned: So you’ve disregarded all of this and you’re looking like a lobster? The first thing you want to do is stay hydrated. UV light causes inflammation, and staying hydrated helps repair the skin barrier more quickly. Also, don’t pick any blisters and pile on the aloe.

Too Little, Too Late: Maybe you’re reading this article a few years too late and you’re seeing some spots, lines and wrinkles. We’ve got the magic for that. The sun is our skin’s biggest enemy, and through treatments like PRP Facials, Botox and some of our amazing skincare products, we can help reverse the damage that’s already done.

If you’d like to learn more about how to keep your skin safe this summer, or what we can do for preexisting sun damage, allow our registered nurse at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa take a look at you and answer any of your questions. Please visit or call us at (480) 923-6138.

Do you need Botox? Four Signs You Do

These days it’s hard to find someone who hasn’t dipped their toe in the BOTOX pool. That neighbor who looks suddenly ‘refreshed’, the guy at work who took years off his face in a few days and that one cousin who seems to be tricking time with each family gathering. They’ve probably have gotten the memo and saw someone for BOTOX. So, is it time for you to come to Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa  to do the same? We’ve got four signs that’ll help you decide.

1. Forehead Lines

Have you noticed your forehead is looking way too much like a treasure map? Lines and X’s, but no treasure. Forehead furrows or frown lines are one of the first places we start to visibly age on our face.

2. Smile Lines

Crow’s feet, those pesky lines that form around our mouths. Crow’s feet become most intense when we work the muscles around your eyes. BOTOX blocks this by relaxing the muscles that cause crow feet to appear.

3. Got TMJ?

TMJ or Temporomadibular when the temporomandibular joint is where the skull and jaw bone connect, acting as kind of hinge for your mouth, are out of alignment. TMJ can cause earaches, pain when you chew and even a change in how your teeth fit together. Our and highly-trained registered nurse injects BOTOX into masseter muscle, allowing the muscle to relax and help with pain caused by persistent grinding and clenching.

4. You Don’t Have Wrinkles

So, you’re a fresh 20-something who feels like you’re light years away from needing BOTOX? WRONG. Preventive BOTOX is a thing and it works. Within one study, contributors stated that it’s “rarely too early”. In the study on BOTOX, it shows that frown lines, forehead furrows and crows’ feet are caused by repetitive folding of the skin from normal expressions and if you slow down the use of those muscles in your early adult life, the lines never develop.

Chlorine’s Combat on Good Hair

Living in Arizona, we literally construct our schedules around when we’re going to be in the pool. If you’re not already swimming, you’re thinking about the next time you can jump in and cool off, but did you know that pool-time can actually cause havoc on your hair? Chlorine not only dulls your hair but also has a damaging effect, and especially to color-treated hair. Blondes beware; chlorine can have an especially damming effect on your hair and even give it a green tinge. If you can’t get your head above water this summer, try a swim cap or just rinse your with filtered water prior to jumping in. One trick we’ve learned to love, is taking our Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask, a magical mixture of tea complex that penetrates the hair follicle, and lathering some on before we have our pool day, so it can soak in deeply and reverse damaged hair. The trick really boils down to saturating the hair with something, so very little chlorine will be able to enter the shaft, as our hair is sponge-like and will soak up anything.

If you’ve read this tip a little too late, and are noticing your hair is on the crispy side from all of the swimming you’ve done, we can still help. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa has multiple options to get your thirsty hair back into shape. Our Brazilian Blowout Split End Repair Treatment is made just for said issue, as it seals and nourishes split ends, and gives your hair a sleek and healthy look. Also, have you might have heard of the benefits of collagen for your face, but for your hair? Yes, our Demi- Permanent Conditioner is a collagen-based product that deeply conditions and replenishes dry and damaged hair. So, go ahead and take a dip, we’ve got all of your hair-rehab treatments taken care of at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. For more information on how we can help with all of your haircare concerns and other salon services, please visit or call us at (480) 923-6138.

There are so many things we do in our day-to-day to keep ourselves vibrant; eat well, work out and wear sunscreen, but when it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance on our face, there are some things that are out of our hands. Regardless of how many healthy habits you’ve taken up, there’s only so much we can do, especially for our face. If you’re looking to maintain a youthful appearance, look no further than Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa in Gilbert, AZ. Our team of highly skilled professionals wants to work with you on your skincare goals and below you’ll find a few of suggested tips to looking as young as you feel…

1.) BOTOX

One of the fastest ways to take years off than with a quick injection of Botox. Both highly effective and safe, Botox is great ease into the sometimes overwhelming world of anti-aging treatments. With few restrictions and little to no downtime after your treatment, Botox is a total breeze.

2.) Voluma

As we age, our cheeks go flat and it’s a huge concern for lots of folks trying to refresh their look. The no scalpel-required treatment, Voluma, actually does wonders by lifting and contouring your cheek area— giving you a fuller and youthful appearance. The best part? This treatment can last up to two years, the only filler to do so.

3.) Microblading

One of the worst parts about getting older is the loss of eyebrows and the toll it takes on the general look of our face. Those once bushy and full brows take a turn for thinness as the years go by. Alas, now with Microblading, you can throw away your brow pencils with this semi-permanent treatment. One of our extremely trained technicians tattoos individual eyebrows hairs onto your face, providing a natural fuller-looking brow.

4.) Kybella

There are few things as bothersome as a turkey neck. That deposit of fat that sits under the chin and regardless of how many salads you eat, just will not go away and even gets worse with every passing birthday. With one of the most discussed treatments, Kybella, you can actually destroy those fat cells forever. Rid yourself of the wobble in just two treatments and zero touch-ups.

5.) PRP Facial

The PRP Facial starts with our very talented registered nurse drawing some of your blood with the smallest of pokes and then separates the blood into platelet-rich plasma that will be applied to your face. You’ll then receive micro needling— a method that not only allows the PRP to be better absorbed but also stimulates collagen production. The results are unlike any other facial you’ll ever receive— the ultimate in anti-aging treatments.

What is Dysport? Compare to Botox

Have you ever thought about getting cosmetic injections to treat your wrinkles and fine lines? With over 3 million botulinum toxin injections occurring every year, wrinkle erasing injections are a popular, safe, and effective method to treat signs of aging on the face.

These injections are most commonly referred to as “botox”. However, Botox is only one brand of botulinum toxin injection that can be used. Dysport is another brand of botulinum toxin that is also used to treat the appearance of wrinkles.

At Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa, Dysport and Botox are some of the many different cosmetic injections we offer. Dysport injections will smooth out the signs of aging in your skin, resulting in a younger appearance in just a few days.

But what is Dysport, and how long does Dysport take to work? What are the differences between Dysport vs. Botox? Keep reading to find out all there is to know about Dysport.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a formulation and brand of botulinum toxin Type A, or more specifically of abobotulinumtoxinA. Dysport is injected into the skin and can be used for both medical and cosmetic purposes.

At Colair Beauty Loung & Med Spa, we use Dysport for cosmetic purposes only. This injection is used to treat the wrinkles that occur between your eyebrows, commonly referred to as “11 lines” or “frown lines”, forehead lines and “crows feet” or “smile lines” near the eyes.

The appearance of frown lines can become quite pronounced as you age, and these lines will typically grow deeper with time. Dysport can help erase the appearance of these stubborn wrinkles, and leave you with more youthful-looking skin.

How Does Dysport Treat Wrinkles?

Wrinkles form as a result of repetitive muscle movement in specific parts of the face. For example, raising and furrowing your eyebrows repeatedly over the course of many years can lead to forehead wrinkles and frown lines.

Dysport wrinkle injections target and reduce the muscle contractions that lead to fine lines and wrinkles between your eyebrows.

It is only approved to treat frown lines. However, if you are concerned about the signs of aging on other parts of your face or body, there’s no need to worry!

At Colair, we offer a wide variety of anti-aging beauty solutions. From other anti-aging injectables to thorough facials and miraculous chemical peels, our team can help you decide which options work best for you and your skin!

The Results: How Long Does Dysport Take To Work?

One of the many benefits of Dysport is that it is fast-acting, with most people starting to see results within 2-3 days! The full and final results should only take a 7-14 days to appear, making Dysport one of the fastest wrinkle treatments.

As with all other anti-aging injectables, the results of Dysport are not permanent. Most people need Dysport touch-ups every 3-4 months, which provides an added benefit for first-time users that want to try wrinkle injections without a lengthier time commitment.

Dysport vs. Botox

Dysport and Botox are both anti-aging injectables that we proudly offer at Colair. These injections are both formulations and brands of botulinum toxin Type A. Though Dysport and Botox have similar qualities, there are also important differences between these two cosmetic injections.

The differences between Dysport and Botox come from the different proteins involved. As mentioned previously, Dysport is formulated with abobotulinumtoxinA. Botox, however, uses a slightly different botulinum toxin called onabotulinumtoxinA.

The different formulations of Botox and Dysport account for key differences between both treatments including:

  • Treatment areas
  • The time it takes for results
  • How long do results last
  • Cost of treatment

Treatment Areas: Botox vs. Dysport

Botox and Dysport are both used to treat wrinkles in the upper half of the face.

Dysport is approved to treat wrinkles between the eyebrows. These wrinkles, commonly called “frown lines”, can be effectively lessened with Dysport injections.

Botox can also treat wrinkles between the eyebrows. However, Botox can treat areas other than frown lines, including the crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) and forehead wrinkles.

Time It Takes For Results

One will start to see the results of Dysport after only 2-3 days, with final results appearing after one week.

Botox results may not appear until one week after injection, with results taking as long as one month to appear on the face.

How Long Do Results Last?

Dysport and Botox wrinkle injections can last anywhere from 3-4 months, with some people seeing results for even longer.

Cost of Treatment

Between Dysport and Botox, Dysport is the most cost-effective option.

At Colair, one unit of Botox costs $10.50, whereas Dysport costs $4.50 per unit. However, with Dysport you need double the Botox units. In the end you may save a little with Dysport. This may be something to consider when deciding on which wrinkle injection suits you best, however both options will be thoroughly discussed with Colair’s Registered Nurse prior to treatment.

Benefits of Dysport

Dysport is a great and effective option for treating stubborn frown line wrinkles. The benefits of botox are numerous, and include:

  • Fast results (2-3 days)
  • No downtime
  • Lasts 3-4 months
  • Very effective at targeting frown line wrinkles
  • Can be tailored to your specific cosmetic needs

If you’re wondering how to reduce wrinkles, Dysport is a great and safe option available through our skilled injectors at Colair!

Other Cosmetic Injections

If you have concerns about other signs of aging on other parts of your face that neither Dysport nor Botox don’t cover, don’t worry! Our services at Colair provide a number of other anti-aging treatments.

If you are concerned about fine lines around your mouth, or if you’re worried about a loss of volume in your face due to aging, then fillers are another great option for you.

These cosmetic injections will increase volume in the skin, and fill in deep-set lines on other parts of your face. Many people opt to get both Botox/Dysport and filler to maximize anti-aging results!

5 Benefits of Dermaplaning You’ll Love to Keep Scheduling

If you ask any serious beauty-buff what the secret to glowing skin is, you’ll more than likely get an earful about dermaplaning. Done by taking a scalpel and scraping the top layers of dead skin off, dermaplaning sounds way more terrifying than it actually is. For the sake of not looking like you got into a fight with a blender, this treatment should only be done by a professional like the ones at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. We offer this service as an add-on to our facials. Below are some reasons why we’re obsessed with dermaplaning.

1.) Helps Reduce Signs of Aging

Dermaplaning actually helps promote the production of matrix proteins such as collagen and elastin which therefore reduces the signs of aging.

2.) Makes Your Skincare Absorb Better

With all of that dead skin removed, your products will penetrate your skin so much better. You’ll find that you’re using less cream/serum and it glides on much easier.

3.) Helps Battle Acne

Not just for giving you a glowing complexion, dermaplaning helps with “hyperkeratosis” which is a buildup of the top layer of skin, that not only dulls your complexion but also contributes to acne.

4.) Removes Peach Fuzz

Who isn’t without those random patches of ‘baby hair’? Since dermaplaning is essentially shaving down your face, you’ll lose the hair and dead skin cells at the same time.

5.) Even Skin Tone

Besides just improving the texture of your skin, it even helps the color of your skin to appear more even— especially great for hyper pigmentation!

Contact to schedule your appointment with us in Gilbert, AZ! For more information about dermaplaning and skincare services at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa, please contact us at (480) 923-6138.
