What is Preventative Botox?

The fountain of youth may not exist, but science has gotten pretty darn close. There are plenty of products and treatments available that can help reverse or even stop the signs of aging. One of the most popular treatments is Botox.

Botox uses botulinum toxin injected into the skin to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The toxin—that’s not toxic or harmful to the body—paralyzes the muscles, so they are more relaxed, creating less wrinkling and creasing in the skin.

There are two main types of Botox that we can help you with at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa in Gilbert, AZ: preventative Botox and corrective Botox. Both do well in an effort to increase anti-aging and both contain their own properties depending on the solution you want.

What Is Preventative Botox?

One of the major preventative Botox benefits is that it prevents wrinkles before they set deep into the skin. The key is to get the treatment early before the face has many visible wrinkles or fine lines.

Preventative Botox uses the botulinum toxin to relax the muscles in the face. These paralyzed muscles prevent the skin from creasing and forming fine lines or wrinkles.

Before having the procedure, you’ll have a consultation with one of our registered nurses at Colair, where you’ll discuss possible side effects and aftercare instructions. During the Botox process, the specialist will identify the facial muscles to apply the Botox. The preventative Botox process takes only ten to thirty minutes.

How often do you need to do it? Preventative Botox isn’t something you do only once. It often takes a few sessions to yield initial results, and you’ll need to maintain the effects after the first visit.

When can you see results? It can take up to two weeks to see any initial changes. On average, it takes ten to twelve weeks for patients to see their desired results. And to maintain the results, you should get treatments about three to four times a year.

How much does it cost? On average, preventative Botox costs between $250 and $500 per session. The price depends on how many areas need to be treated as well as the dose required per injection.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Firstly, the FDA has approved Botox for patients older than eighteen. For those looking to use Botox to prevent aging, many people get their first treatment in their mid-twenties.

Technically, you can receive Botox treatments in your early twenties, but at that time, it’s unlikely that wrinkles have formed or set into the skin. Preventative Botox decreases the chance of having wrinkles in the future.

Who should get preventative botox? Anyone who wants who’s looking to maintain their youth and fight wrinkles before they start.

Why You Should Consider Preventative Botox

Taking the preventative approach is easy the solution to stop early lines from becoming wrinkles. Starting Botox early, before wrinkles have the chance to set in, reduces the chance of having wrinkles in the future. You’re also less likely to have deep-set wrinkles.

You should consider getting preventative Botox fillers in your twenties because not only can it prevent the development of deep static facial lines, but it may also prevent wrinkles altogether. You also may save on high Botox costs down the line because there won’t be as many wrinkles to fight.

What Is Corrective Botox?

Corrective Botox has a similar goal as preventative Botox: to fight against the signs of aging, wrinkles, and deep lines. But corrective Botox is used when those signs have aging have already set into the skin.

The main goal of corrective Botox is to soften or make the lines disappear. The procedure makes the skin taut, which helps smooth it out. This is especially helpful when those deeper creases begin to set in.

Botox and fillers can also help with volume loss and thin skin as you age. The older we get, the thinner our skin becomes, not only making wrinkles more prominent but also causing us to lose the youthful plumpness our skin once had. Sagging skin may also become a concern.

Botox and fillers can combat these issues. Botox fights the fine lines and wrinkles, while corrective fillers can help add plumpness back to areas like our cheeks, marionette lines or lips.

The process between both versions of Botox is similar, where you’ll be in a professional medical room while one of our registered nurses injects the treatment. The whole process only takes ten to thirty minutes.

As for maintenance, you should receive a series of treatments about every twelve to sixteen weeks to maintain your results. The cost typically ranges between $250 and $600 at Colair depending on the location you need and the amount of Botox needed to correct the wrinkles.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Those looking for corrective Botox treatments are better for people who already have deep-set wrinkles or fine lines on their skin. Most people begin seeking corrective Botox treatments in their mid to late thirties and is an increasingly popular treatment for those in their forties, fifties, and sixties. While there isn’t an upper age limit, health risks associated with advanced ages may make Botox not the best option.

When Corrective Is a More Appropriate Option

Corrective Botox is the more appropriate option if your skin is already showing signs of aging. Consider this if you have:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Loss of volume on your face and neck

This version can also be more appropriate if you’ve had unhealthy habits surrounding your skin, such as smoking, frequent use of tanning beds, and overexposure to the sun without using protective measures. All of these can lead to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines that Botox can then treat.

Reverse the Signs of Aging With Botox

Who says growing old gracefully can’t come with a little Botox? If you’re looking to reverse or prevent the signs of aging, you can do that with Botox. Both corrective and preventative Botox are great ways to help your skin look younger.

Pamper yourself and allow your inner beauty to shine through. At Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa, you can reverse and prevent signs of aging through Botox injections customized to your needs. Contact us to schedule a free consultation at our med spa in Gilbert to start your beauty journey.

So if you’re a 20-something and thinking that Botox isn’t something you need to consider for decades, think again. It’s basic beauty-instincts to follow certain anti-aging and preventive measures like wearing sunscreen, applying night cream and drinking water, but imagine altogether halting the development of wrinkles before they even start?

So, what is Botox? Contrary to what many believe—Botox isn’t shipped from heaven— rather, it is Botulinum toxin type A, a wonder drug made to smooth out lines by preventing muscles from contracting. Believe it or not Botox has been around for 100 years. Initially approved for treating eyelid spasms, Botox then went on to be used for bladder spasms and excessive sweating, then in 2002, it was approved by the FDA for treatment of wrinkles on the upper face. Located in Agritopia, Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is your one-stop skincare destination and our experts are ready to answer your questions about Botox and other med spa services.  If you’re interested in learning more about the benefits of Botox or have questions, please do not hesitate to visit or call us at (480) 923-6138.

How Often Should You Get Botox Injections?

You’ve probably wondered how often you should get Botox once you complete your first treatment. The quick answer that we recommend is every 12 weeks. This anti-aging treatment is a miracle for many looking to counteract the effects of getting older. Botox is everyone’s favorite weapon against fine lines and wrinkles for its quick results that require little to no downtime. Read on about Botox to learn who should get it, and how often to get filler injections.

Before and after of Botox treatment

How Does Botox Work?

Before diving into the frequency and how often you should get Botox, let’s take a look at how it works. Botox is an anti-aging treatment that blocks the nerves in and around your forehead that prevents you from moving those muscles. This allows for a more refreshed and softer looking face. Botox is a completely safe and FDA-approved cosmetic procedure that focuses especially on forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes

Who Should Get Botox?

The beauty of Botox is that it’s never too late or early (for adults) to start tackling wrinkles. Think it’s too soon for you? Think again. Preventative Botox is a thing and it’s something you should consider. Starting Botox before you actually have wrinkles and lines allows you to cease motions in the muscles that cause the lines themselves to form. Thus solving the problem before it becomes one.

How Often Should I Get Botox?

All good things must come to an end, or in this case, reapplied. Botox isn’t permanent and follow-ups are recommended to keep that youthful appearance. For best results, we’d like to see you at least every 90 days. The biggest reason to come in every three months is so the creases and lines don’t deepen with extended muscle movement. Again, the notion is that we can stop the muscle motion that actually causes the wrinkle.

If you’re worried about looking “overdone” or plastic-like, that’s the beauty of seeing a professional at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. One of our registered nurses will be able to examine your face, muscle structure and strength to ensure you get the most natural looking results as possible.

How to Avoid New Wrinkles?

As we mentioned, getting Botox on a regular basis is going to improve the look of wrinkles, but also stop new ones from forming and prevent existing ones from getting worse. There’s a few things to keep in mind for the sake of your skin and not creating new wrinkles. Wear an SPF (at least 30) every day to prevent UV damage, avoid smoking and eat healthy.

Using Botox for Crow’s Feet

The wonders of Botox never cease to amaze us at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. This miracle injectable is best known for smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead. As time goes on, we’re learning more ways to apply Botox. Our most recent discovery? Crow’s feet. Learn how you can use Botox for Crow’s feet and ask yourself why you’ve only just discovered this!

What is Crow’s Feet?

Dysport crows feet

Those pesky lines that gather and deepen in the corners of our eyes, crow’s feet are difficult to address and treat. Crow’s feet appear when the skin loses elasticity and collagen, this happens as we grow older and just from genetics. And though they’re often referred to as “laughing lines”, they’re anything but funny.

There are a few reasons why crow’s feet appear. Repeated muscle movement through raising your brows, squinting and frowning cause facial lines.

Often folks attempt to correct crow’s feet with miracle creams and moisturizers, and though hydration and UV protection is important, there’s likely no product that really makes a difference.

Unlike most of the lines and wrinkles on your face, crow’s feet tend to pop up earlier and don’t discriminate against younger people. It’s not uncommon to see them appear on folks in their 20s. But Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa in Gilbert, Arizona is here to help with Botox.

Botox: The Medical Miracle

Woman giving botox injections.

Botox is used to stop the nerve signals and ceasing movement in certain muscles. This not only stops creasing from getting worse, but it also smooths out the lines and wrinkles. Botox is extremely safe, easy to administer and there’s virtually no down time.

So what can you expect when treating crow’s feet with Botox? Going into this, you should know that Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa only works with actual medical professionals for applying injections like Botox. You can rest easy that you’re in the hands of a seasoned and skilled pro.

One of our staff, a registered nurse, will talk you through the process of Botox for crow’s feet and examine your face to align expectations. The treatment is relatively fast, only taking about 10 minutes. With a very fine needle, the RN will inject around your eyes which relaxes the muscle and smooths the skin out.

What to Expect After Using Botox for Crow’s Feet

After your treatment you’ll be able to go right home. You can wear makeup and even wash your face. Though we’d ask you not to rub the skin around your eyes or hit the gym and partake in a lot of activity. You’ll likely not see results for a few days, but results typically last for four months or even longer.

Wrinkles Got You Down? Botox Vs. Dysport

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport? What do you need to know if you’re considering either of these options to tackle your aging concerns? Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is here to educate you on two awesome choices.

There’s no easy way to say it, but the fine lines and creases we develop as we age are only going to become more noticeable. It’s a fact. They’re there and not going away anytime soon. Sure, you try to act like they don’t bother you, but spending more time staring at them in the mirror isn’t the solution. Look, if you really want to erase them, why not try a temporary solution and see if you like the results. That’s where Botox and Dysport come in. They aren’t life-changing, but they can help you love what you see in the mirror once again.

These injected formulas allow you to turn back the clock if even for a couple months to see if this is something you want to keep using. There’s nothing that says you need to continue, but why not reward yourself and give it a try.

Okay, so, what do you need to know when it comes to Botox and Dysport, and which should you try?

Both of these products use the same type of ingredient and are injectables. They are often used for muscle spasms to treat medical issues, but they’ve been found to help with the aging process and wrinkles as well. Bonus!

Now, within these two different branded products are proteins. The comparison between them have to do with the specific proteins and how many of them there are in the formulas. Another thing to consider is that while Dysport may show you results sooner than Botox, it doesn’t last quite as long as Botox does.

While these are not fillers to help change the shape of the lines on your face, what they do is smooth the muscle beneath the skin, which gives it a more uniform appearance. This causes the wrinkles to appear smoother, and less noticeable.

Dysport is used for the lines and wrinkles that form between your eyebrows. It is only approved to be used in this area. Botox however can be used in the same location, plus tackle your crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.

Another thing to note is the Botox may take longer to see the results, up to a month’s time, though the results last up to six months. Dysport will show results within a week’s time in some cases, but only lasts 3-4 months. If you’re looking for a quicker fix, Dysport might be a good option when this area bothers you. Otherwise, Botox can treat multiple areas and lasts longer. Seems like a win, but only you can truly decide.

The Manly Man’s Guide to Med Spas

Somewhere through the macho pages of history, gents got this notion that they weren’t allowed to have their own time at the spa. Though Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa provides outstanding services for women, we’re equally passionate about men visiting us for med spa treatments as well. You work out, try to look your best and yet you might be thinking med spas aren’t for you? Alas, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Firstly, let’s talk about Brotox, or Botox for Bros. Botox is a injectable used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, and our incredible registered nurse can even maintain your ruggedly-handsome looks, giving you a more refreshed, youthful look.

Maybe you’re finding yourself feeling a little out of it and run down? Try our IV Nutrient Therapies. For the gym rats, or party boys, IV Nutrient Therapy is ideal. Available in both traditional drip and ‘push’ form, IV Nutrient Therapy allows you to receive a plethora of vitamins and good stuff directly into your bloodstream. Not only can it help with issues like fatigue, hypertension and infections, but it can also help alleviate a wild night on the town, making that hangover a little softer. If you’re looking to recovery faster from intense workouts at the gym, IV Nutrient Therapy helps with muscle recovery.

Maybe you’re going a little thin on top? We can even help with that too. There isn’t a thinning-haired fella around who can’t say he wished there was a solution, and that’s why we have PRP for hair loss. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and it’s important here because the growth factors found in your own plasma act as a kind of messengers, telling skin cells to function and help stimulate activity in the follicles to promote hair growth. The treatment starts with a easy and simple blood draw from our registered nurse, where we draw your blood and separate the plasma from the red blood cells by way of a machine that spins the liquid quickly. From there, the PRP will be injected into the locations on your scalp where you’d like to see hair growth.

So next time you hear your lady-friend mention she’s headed to see us for an appointment, don’t be afraid to come in for your own service. If you’d like to learn more about any of the treatments discussed above, or any of our other men’s med spa services, please visit Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa or call us at (480) 923-6138.

Chlorine’s Combat on Good Hair

Living in Arizona, we literally construct our schedules around when we’re going to be in the pool. If you’re not already swimming, you’re thinking about the next time you can jump in and cool off, but did you know that pool-time can actually cause havoc on your hair? Chlorine not only dulls your hair but also has a damaging effect, and especially to color-treated hair. Blondes beware; chlorine can have an especially damming effect on your hair and even give it a green tinge. If you can’t get your head above water this summer, try a swim cap or just rinse your with filtered water prior to jumping in. One trick we’ve learned to love, is taking our Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask, a magical mixture of tea complex that penetrates the hair follicle, and lathering some on before we have our pool day, so it can soak in deeply and reverse damaged hair. The trick really boils down to saturating the hair with something, so very little chlorine will be able to enter the shaft, as our hair is sponge-like and will soak up anything.

If you’ve read this tip a little too late, and are noticing your hair is on the crispy side from all of the swimming you’ve done, we can still help. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa has multiple options to get your thirsty hair back into shape. Our Brazilian Blowout Split End Repair Treatment is made just for said issue, as it seals and nourishes split ends, and gives your hair a sleek and healthy look. Also, have you might have heard of the benefits of collagen for your face, but for your hair? Yes, our Demi- Permanent Conditioner is a collagen-based product that deeply conditions and replenishes dry and damaged hair. So, go ahead and take a dip, we’ve got all of your hair-rehab treatments taken care of at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. For more information on how we can help with all of your haircare concerns and other salon services, please visit or call us at (480) 923-6138.

Voluma VS Juvederm

voluma vs juvedermAre you debating about which hyaluronic acid filler is right for your skin and wrinkles? Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa Gilbert AZ can provide a free consultation with our certified nurse injection specialists. Our clients are often interested in Juvederm and Voluma, and compare Voluma VS Juvederm.

Both Juvederm and Voluma are types of hyaluronic acid fillers and the absolute latest in beauty enhancing clinical treatments. They are also completely safe, FDA approved and, although they are long-lasting but not permanent, they are reversible should the patient desire. These treatments do, however, differ in a few key ways that all potential users should know.

Firstly, hyaluronic acid fillers are simply a natural substance already found in the human body. High concentrations are found in places like our cartilage, joint fluid and soft connective tissue. Science has found a way to extract this naturally occurring acid, reformulate it and distribute it as what has become the most popular kind of injectable filler for its firming and smoothing effect on skin. It is the key ingredient in both Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma. Juvederm is used to add fullness or evenness to lips and smooth any wrinkling in the area of skin surrounding the lips, especially the area between the nose and mouth. Juvederm is also popular for use in softening what are known as “marionette lines” between the mouth and cheeks which occur with age.

Juvederm Voluma is typically used as a cheek filler. If you are comparing Voluma VS Juvederm, and would like to enhance your cheeks, Voluma is a great choice! It is FDA approved for deep injection into sunken cheeks which often occur as a person ages. Due to the depth at which it should be injected, Voluma is a much stronger filler and not interchangeable with the gentler, surface-level Juvederm formula. Both are excellent options for beauty enhancing facial treatments and both are offered by Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa’s skilled staff. All procedures come with a completely free consultation prior to appointments in order to educate the client fully and allow for the most confidence and comfort going into the treatment.
