Skin Care Steps for the Perfect Daily Routine

Finding your perfect skincare routine can seem a bit daunting, to say the least. There are thousands of different products and treatments to choose from. It’s difficult to know where to start.

Luckily, we’ve made finding the best skincare routine for you simple. Once you know your skin type, the rest is easy. In fact, our team at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa utilizes advanced skincare technology to look deep past your pores. Find the perfect skincare routine is as easy as one scan and putting a treatment process in place.

In this guide, we’ll break down each of the four skin types and how best to care for them. With these easy tips, you’ll be basking in the glow of your clearest skin in no time.

The Four Skin Types: Which One Are You?

By now you’ve probably heard of the four different skin types

But, how do you know which one you have? Interestingly enough, your skin type may change throughout your life.

This is because your skin may become more sensitive or less elastic as you age. Your oil levels may also vary depending on a variety of factors such as diet, hormones, and environment.

Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

Normal Skin Type

Just because it’s called “normal” skin, doesn’t mean it’s necessarily the default. Instead, it means that your skin is not too dry or too oily.

Those with a normal skin type usually notice:

  • Few imperfections
  • Small pores
  • No real sensitivity
  • A glowing complexion

Dry Skin Type

Dry skin is, well, exactly what it sounds like. Those with a dry skin type may notice:

  • Tiny, almost invisible pores
  • Dull complexion
  • Visible lines
  • Less elasticity
  • Red patches

In some severe cases, dry skin can become cracked or scaly. Luckily, Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa has products and treatments to help.

Oily Skin Type

Oily skin means you produce more skin oils than average. This can happen because of things like weather and hormones. Those with oily skin typically notice:

  • Large, visible pores
  • Thick complexion, which can be shiny or dull
  • Pimples, blackheads, or an increased number of blemishes

Combination Skin Type

When your skin is oily in some places and dry in others, you have combination skin. This is one of the most common skin types. You may notice:

  • Larger, more open pores
  • Shiny skin
  • An abundance of blackheads

Combination skin typically requires different types of care in these different areas.

No matter your skin type, you may also have sensitive skin. If this is the case, you’ll have to do a bit of trial and error to find products that work for you without inflaming the skin. Luckily, Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa can help you find an easy solution.

The Optimal Daily Skincare Routine

Step 1: Cleanse

Everyone should be washing their face, no matter what type of skin they have. It’s best to start with a gentle cleanser that is still powerful enough to remove excess dirt and oil.

When shopping for a cleanser there are two ingredients to look out for: glycolic acid and salicylic acid. These will give you the best results.

Those with sensitive skin may find the skin cleansing stage strips too many oils. If that’s the case, try micellar water, which is much more gentle.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliation is essential for unclogging pores and removing deep-set dirt and oil. However, you need to exfoliate correctly to avoid damaging your skin. Avoid exfoliating more than 2-3 times a week.

Scrubs can be a useful exfoliant. Gentle ones are usually made from salt or sugar, while tougher ones are made from ground nuts or seeds.

You can also use chemical exfoliants, or make an appointment at Colair for a chemical peel. This intense exfoliation will breathe new life into your skin.

Step 3: Tone

After cleansing, it’s time to apply a gentle toner. Most people will find that they only need to apply toner once daily.

Toner helps to remove any dirt or makeup your cleanser couldn’t get to. It also helps to close your pores, which prevents excess breakouts.

The best toner products for skincare are those without any alcohol. You should also look for hydrating ingredients such as glycerin or aloe.

Avoid applying toners with your bare hands. Instead, use a cotton ball or pad. Toner should be applied after cleansing and before moisturizing.

Step 4: Apply Serum Based on Specific Needs

Serums are a bit more specialized than toners. They contain concentrated ingredients that your skin may need an extra boost of. For example, Vitamin C serums and anti-aging serums are exceptionally popular.

Each skin type is going to have different needs. Some ingredients different skin types should look out for include:

  • Normal Skin – Niacinamide to boost collagen production
  • Dry Skin – Oil-free with hyaluronic acid and ceramides
  • Sensitive Skin – Calming ingredients such as lavender and chamomile

Serums will work best when incorporated into an existing night or morning skincare routine.

Step 5: Moisturize

Dry skin isn’t the only skin type that needs to be moisturized. Moisturizing is a necessity for every skin type, as it helps to protect your skin’s natural moisture barrier.

Again, the right moisturizer for you will depend on your skin type. For example, the best moisturizers for dry skin are an ointment or cream-based instead of lotions.

Try using moisturizers with an SPF 30+ during the day (higher SPF is better for wrinkle-prevention). For your night skincare routine, switch to a night cream.

Ingredients to look for include:

  • Peptides
  • Ceramides
  • Antioxidants
  • Hydrators, such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid

Step 6: SPF

You need to be protecting your skin from the sun. Even when it’s cloudy, the sun’s rays can do major damage to your skin, which may lead to premature aging or even skin cancer.

Use an SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin. You should also reapply every two hours.

When shopping, look for products with broad-spectrum SPFs. These will protect you from both UVA and UVB rays.

Address Your Issues Head-On

Everyone has specific issues they’d like to work on. From acne to wrinkles and fine lines, a Colair med spa professional can help you find the best skincare routine for your specific problems.

For example, those with acne may be able to get prescription creams or ointments. Deep cleansing masks used weekly may also help prevent breakouts.

Those with signs of premature aging may benefit from laser therapy, injections, micro-needling, or specialized creams. All in all, a specialist can help you tackle any kind of skin concern.

Best Anti-Aging Facial Treatments

A recent survey found that 59% of Americans are not comfortable in their skin. Skin issues are one of the biggest barriers that people face with their confidence whether it is due to acne, aging skin, or other imperfections.

While aging skin is a natural part of getting older, there are some ways that you can maintain youthful and elastic skin by making improvements to your skincare routine. Getting facial treatments at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa can reduce the signs of aging and may slow down the onset of wrinkles.

Do you want to learn more about the best anti-aging facial treatments that you can implement into your skincare routine? We offer everything you need to know about treatments for aging facial skin and the importance of scheduling regular facials

Best Anti-Aging Facial Treatments at Colair

Getting regular facials is one of the easiest ways you can protect your skin from the signs of aging. These treatments can clean your clogged pores, speed up the healing process of your skin, and even reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

However, your outermost layer of skin renews itself every couple of weeks. Because of this, regular facials are important to continually treat your new skin.

Here are some of the best treatments you should consider getting at your next appointment to reduce signs of aging.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a simple and non-invasive treatment option that you should consider if you want to keep your skin looking young and healthy.

During this process, a scalpel is used to scrape off the top layers of your dead skin. While this may sound like a scary process, it is quite relaxing and is not painful at all.

With the dead skin removed from your face, it makes it much easier for products to penetrate deep into your skin. This means that your anti-aging creams and serums will work better and you will have a brighter, glowing complexion.

Microneedling

Microneedling your skin is another minimally invasive treatment that provides amazing results for your skin. During the microneedling process, one of Colair’s aestheticians will use a device comprised of several tiny needles.

These needles will puncture the top layer of your skin. This small amount of damage to your skin will trigger your body’s natural collagen production. Collagen provides many benefits including:

  • Improved skin elasticity
  • Reduction in visible wrinkles
  • Increased blood flow for youthful, plump skin

A more advanced system called Scarlet RF takes microneedling a step further, providing your skin with short pulses of radiofrequency energy. This delivery method actively penetrates deeper in the skin to reach natural protein building blocks that ultimately stimulate collagen production.

Microneedling has very little downtime and is done with a topical numbing cream to help you avoid any discomfort.

Chemical Peels

Something else we offer that you may want to consider is a chemical peel. A chemical peel uses a chemical solution that exfoliates your skin. Once the skin is exfoliated, the newly visible layer of skin will be smoother and less wrinkled.

Chemical peels will refresh your complexion and can help with many signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles.

It can also help with uneven skin coloring and other imperfections.

PRP Therapy

Lastly, you may want to consider PRP therapy to achieve younger-looking skin. PRP, also known as platelet-rich plasma, is taken from your blood.

The steps for PRP therapy include:

  • Getting a small amount of blood drawn from your arm
  • Separating the blood and platelets
  • Injecting platelets into your skin with a syringe or through microneedling.

The boost of platelets in your skin can be used to plump your skin. This way, you can reduce your wrinkles and get rid of deep creases.

Picking the Right Treatment for Your Skin

When you are looking for aging skin solutions, picking the right treatment for your skin is necessary if you want to get the best results.

There are a few things that you may need to consider when picking a treatment. First, you need to consider your skin type. Everyone’s skin will react differently to different treatments.

For example, you may have

  • Dry skin
  • Oily skin
  • Sensitive skin

Make sure you consult with your dermatologist before getting any treatments. They can help you select options that meet your unique needs.

You should also consider your top concerns when selecting a treatment. This way, you will be able to address your most pressing issues with your skin in a single treatment. Colair will conduct a consultation with you before your treatment to seek out what your skin can benefit from. Our Emage 3D Skin Analysis Imaging machine helps pinpoint every pore on your face to identify your needs.

Finally, you must consider the frequency of receiving treatment. If you want to improve the appearance of your skin without having to commit too much time, you may want to try out less invasive treatment options first.

Ongoing Facial Treatments to Implement

Scheduling routine facials is an important part of caring for your skin. Because our skin can change so quickly, having a regular facial will help you maintain your results and keep your skin looking youthful and fresh.

Regular facials will help

  • Keep your skin clean
  • Exfoliate your skin
  • Detoxify your skin
  • Rejuvenate your skin

Not only do you need to get regular facial treatments, but you also need to improve your skin care. Having a good daily and nightly skincare routine will help you keep your skin in good condition between your treatments and will keep your skin looking its best.

Similarly, you need to wear sunscreen every day. Sun damage is one of the most common causes of premature skin aging. Wearing sunscreen will protect your skin from UV damage and can help you avoid unnecessary aging.

Schedule Your Facial Treatments for Aging Skin Today

There are many natural causes of aging skin. Luckily, there are many simple aging skin solutions. By improving your skincare routine and implementing these treatment options, you can have youthful-looking skin for years to come.

What is Preventative Botox?

The fountain of youth may not exist, but science has gotten pretty darn close. There are plenty of products and treatments available that can help reverse or even stop the signs of aging. One of the most popular treatments is Botox.

Botox uses botulinum toxin injected into the skin to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The toxin—that’s not toxic or harmful to the body—paralyzes the muscles, so they are more relaxed, creating less wrinkling and creasing in the skin.

There are two main types of Botox that we can help you with at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa in Gilbert, AZ: preventative Botox and corrective Botox. Both do well in an effort to increase anti-aging and both contain their own properties depending on the solution you want.

What Is Preventative Botox?

One of the major preventative Botox benefits is that it prevents wrinkles before they set deep into the skin. The key is to get the treatment early before the face has many visible wrinkles or fine lines.

Preventative Botox uses the botulinum toxin to relax the muscles in the face. These paralyzed muscles prevent the skin from creasing and forming fine lines or wrinkles.

Before having the procedure, you’ll have a consultation with one of our registered nurses at Colair, where you’ll discuss possible side effects and aftercare instructions. During the Botox process, the specialist will identify the facial muscles to apply the Botox. The preventative Botox process takes only ten to thirty minutes.

How often do you need to do it? Preventative Botox isn’t something you do only once. It often takes a few sessions to yield initial results, and you’ll need to maintain the effects after the first visit.

When can you see results? It can take up to two weeks to see any initial changes. On average, it takes ten to twelve weeks for patients to see their desired results. And to maintain the results, you should get treatments about three to four times a year.

How much does it cost? On average, preventative Botox costs between $250 and $500 per session. The price depends on how many areas need to be treated as well as the dose required per injection.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Firstly, the FDA has approved Botox for patients older than eighteen. For those looking to use Botox to prevent aging, many people get their first treatment in their mid-twenties.

Technically, you can receive Botox treatments in your early twenties, but at that time, it’s unlikely that wrinkles have formed or set into the skin. Preventative Botox decreases the chance of having wrinkles in the future.

Who should get preventative botox? Anyone who wants who’s looking to maintain their youth and fight wrinkles before they start.

Why You Should Consider Preventative Botox

Taking the preventative approach is easy the solution to stop early lines from becoming wrinkles. Starting Botox early, before wrinkles have the chance to set in, reduces the chance of having wrinkles in the future. You’re also less likely to have deep-set wrinkles.

You should consider getting preventative Botox fillers in your twenties because not only can it prevent the development of deep static facial lines, but it may also prevent wrinkles altogether. You also may save on high Botox costs down the line because there won’t be as many wrinkles to fight.

What Is Corrective Botox?

Corrective Botox has a similar goal as preventative Botox: to fight against the signs of aging, wrinkles, and deep lines. But corrective Botox is used when those signs have aging have already set into the skin.

The main goal of corrective Botox is to soften or make the lines disappear. The procedure makes the skin taut, which helps smooth it out. This is especially helpful when those deeper creases begin to set in.

Botox and fillers can also help with volume loss and thin skin as you age. The older we get, the thinner our skin becomes, not only making wrinkles more prominent but also causing us to lose the youthful plumpness our skin once had. Sagging skin may also become a concern.

Botox and fillers can combat these issues. Botox fights the fine lines and wrinkles, while corrective fillers can help add plumpness back to areas like our cheeks, marionette lines or lips.

The process between both versions of Botox is similar, where you’ll be in a professional medical room while one of our registered nurses injects the treatment. The whole process only takes ten to thirty minutes.

As for maintenance, you should receive a series of treatments about every twelve to sixteen weeks to maintain your results. The cost typically ranges between $250 and $600 at Colair depending on the location you need and the amount of Botox needed to correct the wrinkles.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Those looking for corrective Botox treatments are better for people who already have deep-set wrinkles or fine lines on their skin. Most people begin seeking corrective Botox treatments in their mid to late thirties and is an increasingly popular treatment for those in their forties, fifties, and sixties. While there isn’t an upper age limit, health risks associated with advanced ages may make Botox not the best option.

When Corrective Is a More Appropriate Option

Corrective Botox is the more appropriate option if your skin is already showing signs of aging. Consider this if you have:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Loss of volume on your face and neck

This version can also be more appropriate if you’ve had unhealthy habits surrounding your skin, such as smoking, frequent use of tanning beds, and overexposure to the sun without using protective measures. All of these can lead to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines that Botox can then treat.

Reverse the Signs of Aging With Botox

Who says growing old gracefully can’t come with a little Botox? If you’re looking to reverse or prevent the signs of aging, you can do that with Botox. Both corrective and preventative Botox are great ways to help your skin look younger.

Pamper yourself and allow your inner beauty to shine through. At Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa, you can reverse and prevent signs of aging through Botox injections customized to your needs. Contact us to schedule a free consultation at our med spa in Gilbert to start your beauty journey.

So if you’re a 20-something and thinking that Botox isn’t something you need to consider for decades, think again. It’s basic beauty-instincts to follow certain anti-aging and preventive measures like wearing sunscreen, applying night cream and drinking water, but imagine altogether halting the development of wrinkles before they even start?

So, what is Botox? Contrary to what many believe—Botox isn’t shipped from heaven— rather, it is Botulinum toxin type A, a wonder drug made to smooth out lines by preventing muscles from contracting. Believe it or not Botox has been around for 100 years. Initially approved for treating eyelid spasms, Botox then went on to be used for bladder spasms and excessive sweating, then in 2002, it was approved by the FDA for treatment of wrinkles on the upper face. Located in Agritopia, Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is your one-stop skincare destination and our experts are ready to answer your questions about Botox and other med spa services.  If you’re interested in learning more about the benefits of Botox or have questions, please do not hesitate to visit or call us at (480) 912-5325.

10 Reasons Why You Need a Skin Aesthetician

Did you know that the average American woman will spend $300,000 on skin care products in her lifetime? It’s clear that healthy, beautiful skin is a top priority for a lot of women, but that money may be going to the wrong places.

Think about what types of skin disorders or issues you’re trying to treat. You may have an issue with acne or dryness. Maybe you’ve got dark spots you can’t seem to lighten.

Seeing an aesthetician takes the guesswork out of skincare and can save you money in the long run. Whether you need more than over-the-counter treatment or a better at-home routine, aestheticians are here to help.

Aestheticians aren’t just for women who need a serious skin care overhaul. Read on for ten reasons why everyone should have an aesthetician.

1. Aestheticians are Complete Skin Care Experts

Aestheticians undergo years of education studying the anatomy and physiology of the skin. This is what prepares us to suggest everything from in-spa treatments to at-home daily routines that really work.

When you’re concerned about heart health, you see a cardiologist. When you’re concerned about joint pain, you see a rheumatologist or orthopedist. The skin is the body’s biggest organ, so why wouldn’t you see a skin care specialist if you’re concerned about skin health?

2. Aestheticians Start With Expert Skin Analysis

One of the reasons that many people struggle to find the right skin care product match is that they’re looking at symptoms, not underlying causes. As a result, you might even be using a product that exacerbates the symptoms, rather than treating them. Our aestheticians at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa use an advanced scanner called the Emage Image Pro 4D to scan deep into your pores and identify underlying skin concerns that can’t be seen by the naked eye. This technology pulls up a 4D structure of your pores, skin spots and can even detect issues that may be a problem down the road. By starting with an expert skin analysis, aestheticians can unlock everything from your skin type to the underlying conditions that are causing your skin imperfections or disorders.

3. Aestheticians Can Point You to the Right Products

We’ve mentioned already how much women are spending on skin care products–enough to buy a house! A lot of that money is going toward trial and error as well as products that simply aren’t doing the trick.

The best skin care products aren’t the ones with the flashiest labels or the biggest Instagram footprint. Visit an aesthetician to make sure that you’re using the right products for your skin type, skin disorders, and age.

4. Aestheticians Can Aid in Anti-Aging

Speaking of age, one of the biggest reasons that our clients visit Colair on a regular basis is our ability to aid in anti-aging. Once again, we see a lot of products making big promises that they can’t keep. From fillers to vitamin injections, we can provide the actual treatments you need to reverse and prevent aging.

5. Aestheticians Can Prevent Potential Skin Problems

Many women are startled to discover that they’re developing new skin disorders as they age. Without intervention, the skin loses a lot of its natural tools to stay healthy, including natural oil production and elasticity.

A skin aesthetician can continue to rejuvenate the skin, preventing some of the potential skin problems that come with age. Why risk battling late-life eczema and rosacea when the right facial treatments could prevent it, altogether? The preventative aspects of aesthetic treatment are what make your aesthetician a great life-long partner.

6. Aestheticians Can Reduce Existing Skin Problems

Most first-time patients visit their aesthetician because of an existing skin problem. This can range from minor dryness that even expensive moisturizers won’t seem to treat to severe adult acne. Many of these first-time patients feel as though they’ve tried everything to no avail, when the truth is, their journey to healthy skin has just begun.

Regular visits to a med spa can produce immediate and long-term effects that you’ll have to see to believe. Just take a look at what our regular clients are saying about their skin care now that they’ve accepted our expert help.

7. Aestheticians Specialize in Clinical Treatments

There are a lot of things you can try at home, but some of the most impactful treatments should never be attempted in the DIY fashion. We’re talking about clinical treatments like fillers, injections, and thread lifts. Whether you’re looking for a full facelift or a subtle change, we implore you to visit us, rather than attempt any DIY clinical treatments.

8. Visiting an Aesthetician Provides Stress Relief

Your skin isn’t the only thing that receives TLC when you make regular appointments with your aesthetician. Treating yourself to an afternoon of peace and luxury is a great way to relieve stress and increase your overall wellness. As a busy woman living in a hectic world, you need to make time for relaxation and rejuvenation to nurture yourself and avoid burnout.

9. Aesthetics Can Improve Blood Circulation

When we talk about poor blood circulation, we usually talk about symptoms like numbness, swelling, and discomfort in the appendages. What we don’t talk about enough is the impact that poor blood circulation has on the skin, especially the sensitive skin of your face.

Regular facial treatments can improve blood flow in the face, promoting an even and glowing skin tone, flushing out toxins, and slowing down the aging process.

10. Aestheticians Can Boost Full-Body Care

When people think of aestheticians, they often think of facial skin care. Admittedly, we’ve talked a lot about facial treatments, because that is a huge part of what we do. However, we’re proud to say that we can provide full-body skin care, too.

From ingrown hairs to cellulite, we’re here to provide the treatment and guidance you need to love your body inside and out.

How Often Should You Get IV Vitamin Therapy?

From Adele and Ariana Grande to other top celebrities, numerous well-known people swear by IV therapy treatments. But what’s in these special intravenous injections and how often can you get IV therapy?

IV therapy is becoming a more popular way of boosting your health and beauty.

Ultimately, a quick Google search online reveals a lot of conflicting information out there about how frequently you should get IV therapy. In this article, we’ll explore different options and help you figure out what’s best for you. Stay healthy, everyone!

What Is IV Therapy?

IV therapy is a type of health and wellness treatment.

During this treatment, a specialist will infuse vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream.

When the liquid gets injected directly into your bloodstream, your body can absorb the nutrients more efficiently than if you were to take them orally.

What’s the point of this? IV vitamin intake can treat a variety of conditions, including dehydration, migraines, and nutrient deficiencies.

However, it can also do things like:

  • Boost your immunity
  • Give you glowing skin
  • Improve athletic performance
  • Strengthen hair and nails
  • Reduce inflammation

While IV therapy is generally safe, there are a few risks associated with it, such as infection and bruising. However, these risks are typically minimal when you get IV therapy from a trained professional.

Outside of some potential slight bruising, there really is nothing but pure benefits of IV vitamins.

First and foremost, they can help to improve your overall health and well-being by preventing vitamin deficiency. When dosed correctly, IV vitamins can also help to boost your immune system, making you less likely to get sick.

Additionally, they can help to increase your energy levels and improve your mental clarity. This all goes hand-in-hand with anti-aging benefits and overall general improved levels of wellbeing.

How long do the IV fluids stay in your body after your treatment? In some cases, you can feel the effects immediately if it’s a hydration or vitamin drip. In other cases, the effects themselves can last up to a few days after your treatment.

However, for anti-aging IV treatments and other beauty IV drips, the results are noticeable long after your 30 to 60-minute treatment is over! Let’s get into what that means below…

What Are the Different Types of IV Therapy?

As mentioned above, there are different types of IV therapy. Namely, you can choose between pure vitamin IV therapy or more complex cocktails of IV nutrient therapy that help you achieve specific goals.

Do note that this is often different from IV injections. On our menu, for example, we offer both IV therapy and simple vitamin injections. With the latter, you’re simply getting a shot of something special, like B12. This isn’t dripped into your bloodstream with an IV, though.

Which one’s best? They’re both great! However, IV therapy does work quite quickly and efficiently.

For example, our Beauty Protect IV nutrient therapy blend puts antioxidants at the forefront of your treatment along with vitamin C, antiviral Lysine, and Zinc. As the name suggests, the goal is to protect your immune system and overall health and well-being.

Likewise, you can often combine these treatments with hydration, ensuring you leave the clinic glowing like the hydrated goddess that you are. Ultimately, it’s all about ensuring you’re getting the right types of vitamins to achieve your health and beauty goals.

When One-Time IV Therapy Makes Sense

Okay, so if you’re feeling like IV therapy makes sense for you then you’re probably wondering whether or not one session will solve all of your problems. When does one-time IV therapy make sense?

When you’re feeling run down or have the flu, you might turn to a one-time IV therapy. While it’s not right for everyone, in some cases it can help you recover more quickly.

How does IV therapy work in this situation? When you’re sick and dehydrated, your body doesn’t have enough fluid to function properly. An IV can help replenish fluids and rehydrate your body.

It can also give you a boost of energy by delivering vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream. If you’re considering a one-time IV therapy, consult with a specialist to see what you might need immediately to get you back in tip-top shape.

Otherwise, we suggest ongoing IV therapy.

How Often Can You Get IV Therapy?

Thinking ongoing IV therapy might be right for you? Great! We think so, too. But, how often can you get IV therapy?

It ultimately depends on what your preferred vitamins are and what you’re using them for. For example, when you get a vitamin C IV drip for wound healing, some specialists recommend a small dose daily for five to 21 days!

However, if you’re just looking to improve your overall wellness, one infusion every two weeks to once per month is typically a great cadence.

The ever-popular Myers cocktails, for example, are most effective when you get them weekly or every two weeks for chronic conditions. If your symptoms or conditions aren’t chronic, then a Myers cocktail once a month is probably enough.

How Often Can You Get Vitamin C IV?

Because we often receive requests about vitamin C, particularly during cold and flu season, let’s briefly talk about how often you can get a vitamin C IV.

The answer depends on a few factors, including your overall health, your doctor’s recommendations, and the severity of your illness.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and is excreted from the body within 24 hours. Because of this, it needs to be replenished regularly. The recommended dose of Vitamin C is 500 mg per day.

However, many people choose to get Vitamin C IVs in order to increase their intake. How often you can get a Vitamin C IV depends on the amount of Vitamin C you need.

For most people, one Vitamin C IV per week is sufficient. However, if you are fighting an illness or are under a lot of stress, you may need more frequent IVs.

Ultimately, a beauty and health specialist will be able to determine how often you need Vitamin C IVs based on your individual needs.

How Often Should You Do IV Glutathione?

Glutathione is another vitamin that a lot of our guests request quite frequently, particularly for anti-aging and mental clarity benefits.

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that can help to protect cells from damage. It is often used as a treatment for conditions like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, as well as cancer. Likewise, it’s great for glowing skin and detoxing your body!

In general, most experts recommend getting a glutathione IV no more than once per week. However, some people may need to do it more frequently if they have a particularly serious condition.

Recommendations for First-Timers vs. Returning Clients

Now that you understand what your options are when it comes to IV therapy and relatively how often you can expect to need it, how do you get started planning your treatments?

  • If you’re a first-timer, we definitely suggest scheduling a free consultation to talk about your needs. This will ensure that you’re planning the right type of IV therapy.

After a free consultation, you’ll likely start out with initial treatment to see how your body reacts. Depending on your health or beauty goals and any medical conditions you might have, we suggest trying out this cadence for a month or two.

Once you understand how your body reacts and start to see the different types of improvements in your general health, we can work with you to adjust the frequency of your treatments to ensure you’re receiving maximum benefits at just the right intervals.

  • If you’re a returning client, we suggest that you go ahead and book your treatments in advance.

Now that you understand exactly what type of IV therapy works for you and how your body reacts to it all, you’ll want to book your sessions ahead of time to continue with a consistent schedule.

This ensures that you don’t miss any treatments. When you start to miss treatments and take time off, the benefits do wear off after a while. So, it’s important to keep a regular schedule.

Schedule Your IV Vitamin Therapy at Colair

After just one treatment you’ll be hooked on scheduling more! Whether you’re a new or returning client, we encourage you to schedule a free consultation with one of our specialists or go ahead and schedule your IV vitamin therapy at Colair now. View our full range of IV therapy services now.

Troublesome skin comes in many shapes, sizes and colors. Blackheads are those annoying, dark spots that often appear on the nose, chin, back, and forehead. If you’ve tried every scrub, mask, and other blackhead removal treatment but still have those pesky dots, you might not be using the best ingredients and methods. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa has a few solutions you should consider.

Blackhead Treatments – What Not To Do

Before we get into blackhead treatment methods, it’s important to know what not to do. First, fight the urge to pop your blackheads (and other pimples). When you squeeze your blackheads, the follicle can rupture and create a lesion or cyst under the skin. In other words, if you pop a blackhead, you can develop a much more severe skin condition.

Also, be cautious of those tech gadgets that promise to suck sebum and oil from your pores. In most cases, the suction tools you can buy for at-home use are too rough and damage delicate skin.

Blackhead Treatments to Try

Now that you know what not to do, here are a few tried & true blackhead removal treatments you can do at home.

For mild blackheads, try skincare with salicylic acid

Salicylic acid should be your holy grail ingredient if you have blackheads. Salicylic acid helps promote cell turnover, remove excess oil, exfoliate and unclog pores. Try a facial scrub or cleanser formulated with salicylic acid to help clear your pores.

Tip: Don’t use a harsh scrub. As tempting as it may be to scrub until your skin turns red, harsh scrubs can strip your natural oils and actually create more buildup.

Use a retinoid if you have more stubborn blackheads

You’ve probably come across retinol if you’ve ever dabbled into anti-aging skincare. Retinol is a lower-concentration retinoid. Retinoids can help improve acne, blackheads, and clogged pores by loosening the cells that clog pores. Like retinol, retinoids also speed up cell turnover, so you can also get the anti-aging benefits.

The best course of action is to introduce a retinol-based night cream to your routine (don’t use retinol during the day). If you have a more extreme case of blackheads, you may have to get a prescription retinoid cream.

Consider AHAs to keep blackheads at bay

While salicylic acid may be better for helping unclog pores, AHAs can help maintain your results.

Alpha hydroxy acids, like glycolic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid and lactic acid, can be helpful to prevent future spots. AHAs work above the skin’s surface to eliminate the dead skin cells that clog pores and cause blackheads. Try adding a highly-rated AHA-based night serum to your daily routine.

Med Spa Solutions for Blackheads

Help, nothing is working!

If you have a more severe or persistent case of acne, consider med spa blackhead treatments. There are a few options to consider, but most people find that customized facials, laser therapies, or microneedling can work wonders in removing lingering blackheads.

At Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa, our guests often book a Classic Treatment or Luxe Treatment to help combat blackheads. These personalized facial treatments include cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, and specialized remedies for your unique skin type.

The Men’s Guide to Spa Days

A simple skincare regime can go a long way. But for the guys who want to level up their skincare game, spa treatments for men are a great way to invest in your skin and self-care. So whether you’re up for a full-on spa day or just want to treat yourself to a quick skin service, Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is here to deliver.

If you’re considering visiting a men’s spa to help boost your overall wellness and wellbeing, knowing which treatments to choose can be challenging. At Colair, we have grooming and wellness treatments for men to help you look and feel your best.

Why Consider Treating Yourself to a Spa Day

Regardless of your gender, we all have skin.

The guys have traditionally kept it simple (or non-existent) when it comes to skincare. But that shouldn’t stop you from pursuing healthier, younger-looking skin. Whether you need a spa day for yourself or looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift, everyone can benefit from a much-needed spa day. There are plenty of spa treatments for men to ease the mind, cleanse the skin, and even help reshape the face.

Skin Treatments for Men Available at Colair

  • Facial Treatments – Men benefit from facials just as much as women do. Acne, wrinkles, and dry or oily skin aren’t exclusive to one sex. In addition, a men’s facial can help remove any build-up that can wreak havoc on the face and neck. We personalize our facial treatments depending on your skin type, address problem areas like acne or blackheads, and cater to skin conditions like rosacea. Ask us about our “beard facials” to help moisturize your facial hair, hydrate the skin underneath it, and help free ingrown hairs.
  • Microdermabrasion and Laser Treatments – Peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments can help rehabilitate damaged skin, improve flaws, and treat acne scars. If you’re looking for a more in-depth treatment, radio frequency (RF) microneedling can help tighten and smooth the skin around the eyes, face, and neck.
  • Fillers – For some men, volume loss with age is common. Facial dermal fillers for men help bring back lost volume and restore fullness to the face. Fillers can be used to correct facial wrinkles, enhance thinning lips, and fill in prominent skin folds. Alternatively, we can use filters to give you a more masculine look. Jawline fillers are especially common among men seeking a more chiseled or defined jaw.
  • Professional Teeth Whitening – Again, no matter your gender, we all have teeth. Investing in your smile can help you feel more confident. Our teeth whitening services have zero internal harmful effects and can help reverse stains and yellowing to reveal a bright, white smile.

Book Your Spa Treatment

Guys, there’s no shame in taking care of yourself! Whether you could use a pedicure to clean up those feet or a fresh haircut, take time out of your day. We don’t think there should be a discrepancy between self-care and gender. So go ahead, treat yourself to a spa day. For more information on our men’s services, please visit our Gilbert, Arizona location or call Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa at 480-912-5325.

Winter vs. Summer Skincare Routines

Nourishing your skin in a desert environment is a year-round job. When you’re living in a place that’s bone dry like Arizona, winter skincare is all about hydration and rejuvenation, while the summer months are more about protecting your skin from the sun’s harsh UV rays.

Having only two major seasons with summer temperatures often exceeding 100°F, you may have to shake up your skincare in the name of beauty. Use these beauty tips from Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa for a desert environment to help keep your skin looking and feeling its best no matter the season.

What Does a Winter Skincare Routine in the Desert Look Like?

Add these must-have products to your daily self-care routine to help combat dry, dehydrated desert winter skin.

  • Moisturizer – Humidity is rarely more than 50% at any time of the year in the desert, so a good winter moisturizer is essential. In winter, go for an oil-based moisturizer. Water-based moisturizers tend to be less potent and hydrating. Choose a heavier, oil-based moisturizer to restore dry winter skin.
  • Face Oil – If you’re feeling extra dry in the winter, consider adding face oil into your winter skincare lineup. Facial oils are formulated with concentrated doses of skin-loving ingredients to nourish, rejuvenate, and protect the skin. If you’re worried about looking shiny during the day, use face oil at night before bed.
  • SPF – Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can skip the SPF! The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends a water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen with 30 SPF or higher whenever you’re spending time outside.

What to Include in Your Summer Skincare Routine

Summer in the desert is no joke. These products will help protect and rejuvenate your skin when temperatures are scorching.

  • Moisturizer – While an oil-based moisturizer is excellent for winter, it can be too heavy during the warmer months. Instead, use a water-based moisturizer to avoid looking greasy or shiny during the summer.
  • Serum – If your skin is naturally more on the oily side, oiliness can increase because of excess heat and sweat. Instead of heavy-duty face oil in the summer, go for a facial serum instead. Serums are lighter and absorb into the skin quickly. Plus, there is practically a facial serum for every skin concern imaginable nowadays.
  • SPF – Slather on the SPF during the summer. Most dermatologists also recommend wearing hats with large brims to help protect the face and eyes from further skin damage. Don’t forget to apply SPF to your body, either!

When looking for the above products it’s super important to remember not all beauty products are created equally. At Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa we have access to high-grade product lines that won’t be available to usual consumers spots like drugstores, etc.

These lines of products are vetted by our team to ensure they’re meeting our high standards and actually provide the results they claim to deliver. These products boost your treatments and other investments you’ve made in your skincare with us and because of that, we take what we offer very seriously.

Even if you have oily or acne-prone skin, don’t skimp on the SPF. Look for a lightweight sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher that helps mattify the skin and keep excess oil at bay.

Year-Round Desert Skincare

No matter what time of year it is, exfoliate your face and body around once per week, depending on your skin type. Regular exfoliation helps remove dull, dry skin, increases blood circulation, brightens and improves your skin’s appearance. Maximize your age-defying process and add a retinol to your nightly routine to keep age spots and fine lines at bay.

What is Dysport? Compare to Botox

Have you ever thought about getting cosmetic injections to treat your wrinkles and fine lines? With over 3 million botulinum toxin injections occurring every year, wrinkle erasing injections are a popular, safe, and effective method to treat signs of aging on the face.

These injections are most commonly referred to as “botox”. However, Botox is only one brand of botulinum toxin injection that can be used. Dysport is another brand of botulinum toxin that is also used to treat the appearance of wrinkles.

At Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa, Dysport and Botox are some of the many different cosmetic injections we offer. Dysport injections will smooth out the signs of aging in your skin, resulting in a younger appearance in just a few days.

But what is Dysport, and how long does Dysport take to work? What are the differences between Dysport vs. Botox? Keep reading to find out all there is to know about Dysport.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a formulation and brand of botulinum toxin Type A, or more specifically of abobotulinumtoxinA. Dysport is injected into the skin and can be used for both medical and cosmetic purposes.

At Colair Beauty Loung & Med Spa, we use Dysport for cosmetic purposes only. This injection is used to treat the wrinkles that occur between your eyebrows, commonly referred to as “11 lines” or “frown lines”, forehead lines and “crows feet” or “smile lines” near the eyes.

The appearance of frown lines can become quite pronounced as you age, and these lines will typically grow deeper with time. Dysport can help erase the appearance of these stubborn wrinkles, and leave you with more youthful-looking skin.

How Does Dysport Treat Wrinkles?

Wrinkles form as a result of repetitive muscle movement in specific parts of the face. For example, raising and furrowing your eyebrows repeatedly over the course of many years can lead to forehead wrinkles and frown lines.

Dysport wrinkle injections target and reduce the muscle contractions that lead to fine lines and wrinkles between your eyebrows.

It is only approved to treat frown lines. However, if you are concerned about the signs of aging on other parts of your face or body, there’s no need to worry!

At Colair, we offer a wide variety of anti-aging beauty solutions. From other anti-aging injectables to thorough facials and miraculous chemical peels, our team can help you decide which options work best for you and your skin!

The Results: How Long Does Dysport Take To Work?

One of the many benefits of Dysport is that it is fast-acting, with most people starting to see results within 2-3 days! The full and final results should only take a 7-14 days to appear, making Dysport one of the fastest wrinkle treatments.

As with all other anti-aging injectables, the results of Dysport are not permanent. Most people need Dysport touch-ups every 3-4 months, which provides an added benefit for first-time users that want to try wrinkle injections without a lengthier time commitment.

Dysport vs. Botox

Dysport and Botox are both anti-aging injectables that we proudly offer at Colair. These injections are both formulations and brands of botulinum toxin Type A. Though Dysport and Botox have similar qualities, there are also important differences between these two cosmetic injections.

The differences between Dysport and Botox come from the different proteins involved. As mentioned previously, Dysport is formulated with abobotulinumtoxinA. Botox, however, uses a slightly different botulinum toxin called onabotulinumtoxinA.

The different formulations of Botox and Dysport account for key differences between both treatments including:

  • Treatment areas
  • The time it takes for results
  • How long do results last
  • Cost of treatment

Treatment Areas: Botox vs. Dysport

Botox and Dysport are both used to treat wrinkles in the upper half of the face.

Dysport is approved to treat wrinkles between the eyebrows. These wrinkles, commonly called “frown lines”, can be effectively lessened with Dysport injections.

Botox can also treat wrinkles between the eyebrows. However, Botox can treat areas other than frown lines, including the crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) and forehead wrinkles.

Time It Takes For Results

One will start to see the results of Dysport after only 2-3 days, with final results appearing after one week.

Botox results may not appear until one week after injection, with results taking as long as one month to appear on the face.

How Long Do Results Last?

Dysport and Botox wrinkle injections can last anywhere from 3-4 months, with some people seeing results for even longer.

Cost of Treatment

Between Dysport and Botox, Dysport is the most cost-effective option.

At Colair, one unit of Botox costs $10.50, whereas Dysport costs $4.50 per unit. However, with Dysport you need double the Botox units. In the end you may save a little with Dysport. This may be something to consider when deciding on which wrinkle injection suits you best, however both options will be thoroughly discussed with Colair’s Registered Nurse prior to treatment.

Benefits of Dysport

Dysport is a great and effective option for treating stubborn frown line wrinkles. The benefits of botox are numerous, and include:

  • Fast results (2-3 days)
  • No downtime
  • Lasts 3-4 months
  • Very effective at targeting frown line wrinkles
  • Can be tailored to your specific cosmetic needs

If you’re wondering how to reduce wrinkles, Dysport is a great and safe option available through our skilled injectors at Colair!

Other Cosmetic Injections

If you have concerns about other signs of aging on other parts of your face that neither Dysport nor Botox don’t cover, don’t worry! Our services at Colair provide a number of other anti-aging treatments.

If you are concerned about fine lines around your mouth, or if you’re worried about a loss of volume in your face due to aging, then fillers are another great option for you.

These cosmetic injections will increase volume in the skin, and fill in deep-set lines on other parts of your face. Many people opt to get both Botox/Dysport and filler to maximize anti-aging results!
