When it comes to fillers and injections, facial structure plays an important role in how a treatment works with your skin. One key thing to consider with Sculptra is that it uses a synthetic form of lactic acid. Lactic acid is something your body naturally produces, which means it is not foreign to your system.
Here’s the reality: once you reach your thirties, collagen production begins to slow significantly. This leads to visible changes such as reduced elasticity, slower skin recovery, and a duller appearance—classic signs of aging. Sculptra works by activating fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen production. Lactic acid helps regenerate skin cells and stimulates them into action, supporting gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation.
While traditional dermal fillers offer immediate volumization, Sculptra takes a different approach, with full collagen regrowth occurring around 3 months post-treatment. However, the results are well worth the wait – clients can enjoy voluminous, lifted cheeks and overall facial rejuvenation lasting up to 2 years or more, depending on the individual’s metabolism.
Sculptra injections do not work immediately and work in two ways. It fills in the area with the synthetic lactic acid (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) while your skin starts the rejuvenation process. The most common use for Sculptra Aesthetic is on the face, though some people use it in the chest area and to handle cellulite. Around the eyes, cheeks, and even jawline are the most widely requested injectable sites. It’s the temporary solution that then stimulates your own body to fill those areas with better collagen production.
While you will see an immediate increase of volume while you’re in the office, it will subside over the next few days and then Collagen will build back up over the coming months. It does take a couple of months to see the full results, so this isn’t a quick fix for a big event you’re going to. But like anything else, good things take time. When you do start seeing results after a couple of treatments, they are long-lasting and you can enjoy the benefits for up to three years.
While it can be a little costly upfront, the rewards are great and long-lasting (up to three years). When you meet with one of our registered nurses at Colair, they’ll be able to give you a better idea of how many vials you’ll need, most folks need approximately one vial for every ten years of life. So, if you’re fifty, that’s approximately five vials, though truly, it will depend on the condition of your skin, as you may need less. This process may take more than one appointment, due to restrictions on how many vials can be injected at one time.
