Not Loving Your Puffier Lips?

There’s few things that look as good as well-rounded and full lips. But sometimes folks decide they’re not best suited for them, or perhaps you went to a provider that provided a less than savory experience. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is here to tell you nothing is forever. Puffy lips included (if you so wish).

How to Get Rid of Puffy Lips

There’s something called Hyaluronidase (enzymes) that will help you dissolve the injectable material and depuff your pucker. Think of it as a ‘redo’ card for lip injections.

Too often folks come in to see us at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa that were previously treated by other “professionals” that had no business to administer injections. Our registered nurse works with you on how to best dismantle the lip injections and help you achieve the lips you wanted in the first place.

The protein ingredient Hyaluronidase has three brand names, so you may hear it referred to as:  Amphadase, Hylenex, or Vitrase. It creates an environment that helps you absorb the hyaluronic acid.

Another thing to consider is the density of the skin in the area you’re adapting. Some areas of the skin tend to have more dense tissue, which means it will naturally resist breaking down easier. One of our registered nurses will adapt the amount of hyaluronidase injected based on the area and how much filler needs to be dissolved.

Generally, it happens quickly, but the full effect takes a bit longer. You’ll be able to get a feel for how it’s working within those first 24 hours.

Fillers are a fabulous thing. But at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa we want you to be aware of all of the options so you feel comfortable with whatever choice you may land on. If you’d like to learn more about how we can alter your lips or improve them with Hyaluronidase, please visit or call Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa at (480) 866-0007.

PRP for Under Eye Treatments

You may have heard of PRP or platelet-rich plasma treatments for hair, but did you know that this procedure can also help with under eye bags and issues? While some people rely on fillers, there’s been a movement toward PRP treatments when it comes to under eye repair treatments and Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is thrilled to offer it.

Many people struggle with bags or dark circles and are desperate to find answers. They may first hear about fillers, but they aren’t for everyone. But, what about PRP? What exactly is PRP and how does it help?

PRP for undereye treatment

How Does PRP Work?

Platelet-rich-plasma treatments consist of having blood removed from your arm, as if you were having bloodwork drawn for a doctor’s office. Then one our RNs put your blood in a special centrifuge machine which spins the blood. What this does is helps separate the multiple cells of the blood, which allows the practitioner to draw out the platelet-rich plasma cells for your treatment.

The great thing about this procedure is that you aren’t injecting a foreign substance into your body, but rather your own cells which won’t be rejected or cause issue like allergic reactions that other substances might trigger. This can help the baggy area that forms under the eyes, can help with wrinkles and folds in the skin, and can also help with things like lessening the appearance of dark circles.

What they do is draw out the PRP cells in a syringe, then gently place to the eye area with precise care. The PRP helps stimulate collagen, which in turn helps turn over fresh cells quicker. As we age, our collagen slows down then halts production. The PRP stimulates the fibroblasts that helps activate collagen and creates an environment for natural correction.

PRP offers an all-natural solution that uses your blood cells—not lab synthetics which are made with chemicals you don’t need. Your own blood has exactly what you need. No more worrying about what you’re injecting and hoping some inactive ingredient isn’t suddenly causing you to react.

How Often Should I Do PRP Treatment?

You’ll need to do this treatment a few times for the best results, and it will take approximately 2-3 months to start seeing the full effects of the treatment. Nature takes time. They recommend you have 2-3 injections spaced out over a couple of months. Figure 2-3 months between each treatment for a good range.

Feel better relying on your body for blood cells that are platelet-rich rather than a chemistry lab that synthetically created an option that needed FDA regulation. Have you heard of DiamondGlow?

Microdermabrasion is a process that helps remove the top layer of your skin to give you a renewed appearance. You can come to this result in different manners, but one worth considering is via the DiamondGlow treatment device at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. This non-invasive option allows you to redefine the texture of your skin, which can give you a more youthful appearance, lessen scarring, and reduce dullness.

How Does DiamondGlow Work?

If you’ve noticed your face has been lackluster lately, it might be time to freshen its appearance. By gently exfoliating the top layers of your skin, you’re allowing for faster cell turnover, a brighter and more vibrant glow that gives off a younger, smoother appearance while evening out your skin’s tone.

Even Out Skin Tone and Texture

Another area DiamondGlow can help is by adjusting and correcting discoloration and pigmentation issues, such as sun damage. According to their site, DiamondGlow’s™ patented recessed diamond tip wand delivers a next-level resurfacing treatment. They do this via physical resurfacing, not simply using a chemical peel, which means there’s more control in the finishing touch.

What is Physical Resurfacing?

Physical resurfacing means fresh skin cells are revealed as the dull, dead ones are gently exfoliated away. But don’t take the word gentle as meaning it won’t get the job done. On the contrary, DiamondGlow goes deep enough to not only resurface your top layer, but it also helps extract debris from clogged pores. By adding serums to the process, it then infuses these ingredients deeper into the skin. They recommend SkinMedica as a serum, so that while you’re doing the deep exfoliation, you can push the ingredients to absorb better.

According to Allergan Aesthetics, the company behind DiamondGlow, they recommend you get treatments monthly, 1-2 times for continued improvements.

Recovery Time

DiamondGlow doesn’t require downtime like a facelift does, since it’s non-invasive. With that being said, it never hurts to avoid the direct sunlight when fresh skin cells are newly exposed. Give your skin time to relax and heal. During the treatment itself, you might feel a light stinging sensation, or a scratching sensation, but this is normal and not a concern. If it’s too uncomfortable, of course tell your practitioner.

Lastly, after the treatment, your skin may feel a bit tight as it heals. The process not only removes dead skin cells, but by creating tiny micro tears it creates a process where fibroblasts and collagen become stimulated to turn over cells faster, so you may feel a tad sensitive for a short bit. This is perfectly normal and not a concern. If your skin becomes irritated or inflamed, contact your doctor and check for allergies.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a skin rejuvenation process available at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa that helps with signs of aging. It is a dermal filler that is injected just beneath the skin and plumps up the appearance of fine lines. It’s often a choice for those not looking for the full effects of a facelift, but would like a little help combatting nature with the aging process.

With less visible lines, a fuller face, and collagen stimulator, it’s like a fountain of youth in a syringe. Thanks to the process, you’ll see natural results and it won’t be as dramatic straight on. The reason being is they give you the injections over the period of four treatments. This minimizes problems and allows you to have a natural-looking transition. But does it last?

The parent company says that after your first 4 injections, you can usually go a full 2 years before needing maintenance injections, and tout minimum downtime. Injections take less than an hour to administer. On another note, they highlight that it produces very few issues with allergies based on their choice of ingredients.

How Does it Work:

Sculptra Aesthetic is made with “biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid” which naturally reabsorbs back into the body. This product has been FDA approved since 1999, and was then labeled to be used under the name Sculptra Aesthetic as of 2009. They’ve gone quite a few years without adverse effects!

When you go to the store and buy collagen creams as many women do to help their aging skin, unfortunately, they simply sit on top of the skin because the molecules are too large to absorb. That’s why injections into the dermal layer are so important to get the full effect of plumping the skin. No matter how much certain anti-aging products claim to work, without the right vehicle to deliver the proper ingredients, you’re simply slathering your face with a nice-smelling cream. With injectables, they go beneath the surface.

Who is Sculptra Good For?

If you’ve noticed visible signs of aging around your eyes or lips, or maybe your nasolabial folds (lines under your nose) have become more noticeable, Sculptra may be a great choice for you.

Who is this not good for?

Those under the age of 18, people who are prone to keloids, and if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you should avoid Sculptra injections. You might get a bit of a tingly feel or swelling after, but it should be minimal.

What else might you want to know?

While results aren’t immediate, the gradual build-up helps with a more natural look. For full results, this can take a couple of weeks to see the final outcome, so it’s not a quick trip to the med-spa because you have an event tomorrow night. Instead, allow a little extra time so you can truly stun at that big event.
